Miso Extra

Miso Extra, the solo project of a fast-rising artist born in Hong Kong to a British father and Japanese mother, has quickly made a name for herself in the music industry. Growing up in Japan and later relocating to the UK, Miso developed a passion for music, learning to play the violin and sing from a young age. Her musical influences range from J Dilla and MF DOOM to Daft Punk and Kelis, with anime serving as a significant inspiration woven into her work. Despite her musical inclinations, Miso initially did not pursue a career in music due to the lack of Asian representation in the industry. However, during the UK's lockdown in 2020, she began honing her skills and gave birth to her musical persona, Miso Extra. The name is a pun derived from racist taunts she experienced growing up, reclaimed as "me so extra." One of Miso Extra's notable releases is Certified (2025) which follows her track "Good Kisses"(2024) featuring Metronomy and the euphoric UKG-infused drop 'Slow Down,' co-written and produced with DJ Boring. Her debut album, Earcandy (2025), co-produced by Miso herself, features collaborations with A.K. Paul, MICHELLE, and Tyson, with visuals crafted by Chinese-Indonesian filmmaker Claryn Chong. The single "POP", is included in her album, Earcandy (2025).
