Impulse!

Launched in 1960 by Creed Taylor as a jazz subsidiary of ABC-Paramount Records, Impulse! revolutionized jazz. Known as the "house built by Coltrane,” the label released all of John Coltrane’s recordings until his death in 1967. Impulse! became a hub for free jazz pioneers like Archie Shepp and Pharoah Sanders, rising stars like Keith Jarrett, McCoy Tyner, and Ahmad Jamal, and they even created a new space for jazz legends like Duke Ellington, Sonny Rollins, Count Basie and Johnny Hodges to explore new creative avenues.
