Cannons

Cannons are a Los Angeles trio that blends shimmery electro-pop and sultry dance-rock with plenty of hypnotic atmosphere. The group introduced their sleekly catchy style with the 2014 EP Up All Night, then expanded on it with their 2017 self-released debut album, Night Drive. "Fire for You," the lead single from 2019's Shadows, proved to be a breakthrough after it was used in Netflix's Never Have I Ever. It led to the group's major-label debut, 2022's Fever Dreams, which spawned another hit in "Bad Dream." The driving Heartbeat Highway appeared in 2023. Cannons returned in early 2026 with Everything Glows, an introspective set of songs shaped by life's ups and downs and the trio's powerful camaraderie.Friends since childhood, keyboardist/bassist Paul Davis and guitarist Ryan Clapham started playing music in their teens. After connecting with vocalist Michelle Joy, they formed Cannons in L.A. in 2013. They made their recording debut with the Up All Night EP a year later, then went to work on what would become their full-length debut. The completed Night Drive was self-released in 2017. Following another EP, 2018's In a Heartbeat, their second album, Shadows, was issued on Antifragile Music in mid-2019. Its lead single, "Fire for You," appeared in a 2020 episode of the Netflix series Never Have I Ever and subsequently topped the Billboard Alternative Airplay Chart while reaching the Top Ten of the Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart. Columbia Records came calling, and Cannons returned to the alternative and adult alternative airplay charts with 2021's "Bad Dream," the lead single from their third full-length, 2022's Fever Dreams. Heartbeat Highway appeared in 2023 and saw Cannons deliver a sleek and sensual set of road trip-ready indie pop anthems. While touring the album, Joy struggled with health and personal issues, leading to a lengthy period of recovery and self-reflection. This informed the band's direction as they began working on their fifth album. Advance singles like "All I Need" and "These Nights" bore a more introspective tone, which Cannons' embraced on the 2026 full-length Everything Glows.
