Zé Ibarra

Brazilian singer and songwriter Zé Ibarra draws upon the vibrant '70s and '80s MPB or Música Popular Brasileira traditions, crafting his own distinctive pop sound. It's a vibe that earned him accolades for his 2023 debut Marquês and which he further expanded with jazz, orchestral, and soft rock sounds on 2025's AFIM.Born in 1996 in Rio De Janeiro, Ibarra initially drew attention as a member of the band Dônica. He was also a performer on Milton Nascimento's 2019 Clube da Esquina tour. As a founding member of the band Bala Desejo, he garnered a Latin Grammy Award for their 2022 album, SIM SIM SIM. Drawing upon his love for artists like Gilberto Gil, Caetano Veloso, and Gal Costa, he made his solo debut with 2023's Marquês. In 2025, he returned with his sophomore album AFIM, setting his sophisticated originals alongside covers of songs by contemporaries like Tom Veloso, Dora Morelenbaum, and others.
