Mathias Heise
Mathias Ebenhard Heise, born on September 5, 1993, in Rødovre, Denmark, is a Danish jazz musician known for his expertise as a chromatic harmonica player. He began playing after seeing Amin Jensen perform on television and received early training at the Musikskolen Rødovre. Heise founded Mathias Heise Quadrillion in 2014. Their debut album Sudden Ascent was released in 2015 and nominated for "Newcomer of the Year" at the Danish Music Jazz Awards. Heise also collaborated with the DR Big Band on the album The Beast, released in 2018, which was nominated for "Best Jazz Album" at the Danish Music Awards in 2019. Heise's achievements include winning the World Harmonica Festival championship in 2013 and being named "New Jazz Star of the Year" by Danske Populærautorer in 2015.
