Ragana

Ragana, an American metal duo from Olympia, Washington, was formed in 2011 when Maria Stocke and Noel Gilson met at a grocery store. The band's name is derived from the Latvian and Lithuanian word for "witch." Ragana released their debut album All's Lost in 2012, followed by Unbecoming in 2013. In 2015, they released Wash Away on An Out Records, a label chosen for its anarchist, queer, feminist, and anti-racist ideology. The band gained attention with the release of "You Take Nothing" in 2016, which supported Standing Rock Indian Reservation's Sacred Stone Camp. Their fourth album, also titled You Take Nothing, was released in 2017. In 2018, the band collaborated with Thou for Let Our Names Be Forgotten. In 2023, Ragana's fifth album, Desolation's Flower, received critical acclaim, earning Pitchfork’s "Best New Music" honor and being named Rolling Stone’s third-best metal album of the year. The next album Ash Souvenir, recorded with Drowse, was released on November 14, 2025.
